Were all Mad here!!!! Selene's 4th b-day

So after a long month a party was just the thing. My daughter has been wanting a mad hatter tea party for oh about a year now..... and I think we pulled it off nicely.

We hung paper lanterns of all different shapes and sizes from the ceiling and we put clear small glass vases with bright color flowers all over the party rooms.

I found a great little porcelain tea set that was poke-a-doted  with each cup a different color for the kids and some fun colored tea pots (yay for home sense and cheep prices). I found a wonderland tea cup set for my daughter too!

I filled the big table with finger foods perfect for a tea party( up till 3am the night b4 baking),

with my Alice/ Mad hatter tea party cake as the center piece.

The kids, being only 4 don't have much of an attention span for a lot of games and what not, so they decorated there own hats and played "pin the smile on the Cheshire cat" (we made the game 2 mins b4 the party guest arrived)

We even had a visit from the Mad Hatter himself, escorted by the Red Queen.

Everyone enjoyed themselves and i got a bit "your the best Mommy ever" from my daughter!!

Box 'em up, toy storage

I really needed toy storage..(maybe I need to purge some toys too),
I wanted something that looked fun, went with the decor and was easy for the kiddos to put toys in.

So here is my solution...

I think the wooden boxes were a durable solution. The pictures and labels really make is easy for the kids to put the toys in the proper place...

They are really easy to make and use very little materials.

What you'll need is:
wooden storage boxes
Mod Podge
acrylic paint to match decor
medium paint brushes
paint sponges
scissors
Pictures and words printed on plain computer paper

First you want to paint the boxes. I painted 3 coats to give a good cover
and help extend the life of the finish

Leave the inside of the boxes unpainted, the in and out of the toys
will eventually scratch up the paint
While the boxes are drying, cut out the words and
coordinating pictures

Once dry you want to Mod Podge the words and pictures on the boxes
I Mod Podged the entire box on my 3rd coat to prevent the paint from scratching and chipping

Note: put a quick light first coat of Mod Podge over the paper or the ink will smudge

then all there is left to do is have your kids help you fill them with toys
and hope they want to do it all the time :-)

If nothing else they are a cute craft and and great way to get organized.

Little Rebel Boy bedding

This Is the first bedding set I ever made, and considering I'm an amature in the sewing department I think it turned out fantastically!

I know your probably thinking.. OK that's different for a baby, but they grow out of the baby stage so fast i decided to design his room around a boy, and give a James dean, rebel feel.

I used really good quality cotton, and flees for the back.

(note: this place is an older house so the walls and what not are slightly crooked so the blinds kinda fell funny..I have adjusted it and now they fit nicely!!)

I've added a few other elements to the room.....

A sign on the door

Some art on the wall

This one was made by my daughter

This one is above his crib

Shelves above the dresser filled with
1950's vehicles, hot rods, and a few Pirate things

Finally an old lamp and table cover in fabric,

And there it is, my son's room, something he can grow into!

I hope this gives you some ideas for a little boy (or big boy..lol) you know

Happy Valentine's Day~Spread a little love cards

I love Paper!! There are so many wonderful prints! I love to find ways to use them even if it is a simple as making some valentines day cards.

I've had a paper, scissors, and glue obsession since I was a child. Me and my daughter helped  make these wonderful cards, she picked out what to use and i cut away, we both glued.....
and here you have it, just a few fun cards

It's all in the folds as seen here in this quick tutorial

Simple grapevine Wreaths

I love a simple wreath,.and a grape vine wreath is my fav. They brings and instant inviting warmth, and are a quick and simple way to decorate.  Also once the holiday is over you take it down and pack it away.
I like simple and easy!!

My followers will end up noticing that I will have a wreath for every holiday. I get that from my mom she calls me and we tell each other about our wreaths and how we changed them around..lol

3 Tips for great wreath

1. Take your time picking out the base, grape vine is great but they are never perfectly shaped and can have alot of broken vine tucked in here and there, you want a strong one.

2. When choosing a ribbion try picking the wired kind. It willl be eaiser to place.

3. When adding nick knacks to the wreath, us the basic design rule "add in odds".
for example, look at my valintine wreath, I have 3 decor elements, a ribbion, a sign, and the hearts.
Then I have 7 hearts.
