Box 'em up, toy storage

I really needed toy storage..(maybe I need to purge some toys too),
I wanted something that looked fun, went with the decor and was easy for the kiddos to put toys in.

So here is my solution...

I think the wooden boxes were a durable solution. The pictures and labels really make is easy for the kids to put the toys in the proper place...

They are really easy to make and use very little materials.

What you'll need is:
wooden storage boxes
Mod Podge
acrylic paint to match decor
medium paint brushes
paint sponges
scissors
Pictures and words printed on plain computer paper

First you want to paint the boxes. I painted 3 coats to give a good cover
and help extend the life of the finish

Leave the inside of the boxes unpainted, the in and out of the toys
will eventually scratch up the paint
While the boxes are drying, cut out the words and
coordinating pictures

Once dry you want to Mod Podge the words and pictures on the boxes
I Mod Podged the entire box on my 3rd coat to prevent the paint from scratching and chipping

Note: put a quick light first coat of Mod Podge over the paper or the ink will smudge

then all there is left to do is have your kids help you fill them with toys
and hope they want to do it all the time :-)

If nothing else they are a cute craft and and great way to get organized.

My crafts are "Gone to the Dogs"

So I'm trying to find a place for everthing in my new house and that includes the dog's dinning area. Usually it is kinda messy looking and just seems to not really belong anywhere. Well out came the Paint, craft paper and Mod Podge to the rescue!!

And Presto!!!

these wooden place signs turned out great!

I think the Pooches liked them too!!!

( i know I need a better mat...)

Kids Decor ~ Part 2 ~ Quote art

I found some interesting Quotes buy some famous people and decided to make them into some moer art for my kids rooms. I used the same idea as the other decor shown here but used words instead of pictures. I though they completed the room nicely.

This One is for my son, Dlyan's room,

"Dream as if you'l live forever,Live as if you'll die tommorrow."

This one is for my Daughter, Selene's room,

For beautiful eyes, see the good in others,For beautiful lips, speak only kind words,
and for Poise, walk with the knowledge you are not alone

Introducing...

Hi everyone,

I would just like to introduce my blog and what it is all about. The Knackatory is a crafter's blog and the title is an old word for a place filled with knick knacks. I love being crafty and i always have 101 projects on the go, and lists of ideas i want to create.
Some ideas turn out fabulously while others.....not so much, but I figure if i share them with the world i can give readers new ideas and maybe i can get help with fixing my "not-so- good" ideas
